Pioneer Day has been going on for over 25 years. The 2023 event will be held at the Marion County Park at the Marion County Historical Village.
Dan Carlson is helping put the event on and said it is a full day. The event starts with the scouts raising the flag at 8 a.m. Also at 8 will be a pancake and sausage breakfast put on by the Knights of Columbus.
The event continues with Tony Pearson at 9 a.m. presenting information about the Civil War and the 1800s. In case you miss the first presentation, he will speak again at 11 a.m. Other presenters will be on the schedule from 9-3 p.m, including quilting, rug weaving, the DAR and more.
Lunch will be served from 11-1 and live music, “The Jackson Street Edition” will play 11:30 until 12:30 followed by “The Bluegrass Blondies” starting at 1 p.m., “Terry Fenolio, Mary Burk and Friends,” will play from 2 until 2:30 p.m.
At 2:30 will be the Marion County Historical Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Pioneer Day will be held June 10.
