The Indianola American Legion Post 165 hosted the annual Memorial Day Parade Monday, which included a service and dedication for the new Junior Edwards Statue at the IOOF Cemetery. Sergeant First Class Junior Edwards was an Indianola resident who was awarded a Medal of Honor for his actions during the Korean War, the only Iowa resident to do so. Joe Moody with the American Legion tells KNIA News he wants people to remember the meaning of Memorial Day, which is a day to honor the service members who lost their lives while in the service of their country.
