The Pella Christian baseball team kicked off a busy week by pulling out a 6-5 nailbiter at Albia Tuesday night, while the Eagles softball team fell to the Class 3A #11 ranked Lady Dees 5-0.

On the baseball diamond at Albia, Pella Christian jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, only for Albia to score twice in the second inning and once in the third to tie the game. Despite letting the lead slip, the Eagles rebounded with a run in the fifth inning to recapture the lead and added two big insurance runs in the seventh inning. The Blue Demons pulled back within one in the final frame and had the bases loaded with two outs, but Connor Van Zee struck out the final batter to improve Pella Christian to 5-2 on the season. Caleb Van Arendonk, Trevor Veenstra, and Luke Fynaardt each had two hits and a RBI to power the P.C. offense in the win.

The Eagles softball team struggled defensively with four errors Tuesday night against the ranked Lady Dees, as they dropped to 4-2 on the season. Albia plated one run in the bottom of the first and added one run in each of the third through sixth innings to down Pella Christian. The Eagles managed just two base runners in the contest, with Emma Eekhoff recording a single and Faith Kacmarynski drawing a walk. Eekhoff took the loss in the circle, allowing just one earned run on two hits and four walks, while striking out seven.
