The #4 Pella girls soccer team defeated the 5th seeded ADM Tigers 1-0 Wednesday afternoon at the Class 2A state soccer tournament. While the teams played to a draw for most of the first half, older sister Mia had a long-range assist to younger sister Abby with :19 before the halftime break. It was the only goal the Dutch defense needed. Haley Van Houweling finished with 14 saves. Pella next takes on #1 Waverly-Shell Rock this Friday at 12:30 p.m.; pregame starts at high noon on 92.1 KRLS.

In Iowa City, the #1 ranked Pella boys tennis team was dominant in advancing to the Class 1A team tennis championships, dispatching #8 Ballard and #4 Wahlert both in 5-0 matches to advance. The Dutch are playing in their fourth consecutive state championship match today in Iowa City against #2 Cedar Rapids Xavier; the Saints have defeated the Dutch for the title in three straight seasons.
