The Knoxville Rotary presented a check to the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics for $8,500 for the purchase of AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators).
Kevin Stittsworth, Director of Foundation and Public Relations Director at the Knoxville Hospital and Clinics, tells KNIA/KRLS News, “So this new fleet will be updated with the latest technology and having consistent equipment model across the facility is going to ensure we have the fast and most effective response in the event of an emergency. Basically AED’s save lives and we’re so grateful again to the Knoxville Rotary for this grant so we can purchase those.”
One half of the funds were from the Rotary Foundation and half from the local Rotary Club. The money will fund five of the seven AED’s needed for the hospital and replace a variety of older models for consistency.
Stittsworth added that the cost of one defibrillator is approximately $1,700.
