Central College is offering Junior Golf Nights on the school’s Ryerson Practice Facility this summer.
Junior high and high school players may participate in any or all of the six sessions. Cost is $15 per session and golf balls are provided. They’ll be conducted June 8, 15, 22, and 29 and July 6 and 13. Players should meet at the A.N. Kuyper Athletics Complex parking lot, southwest of P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.
Dutch men’s golf coach Mel Blasi will provide instruction on golf skills and fundamentals including putting, chipping, pitching, sand shots, wedge game, short irons, driving and course management. Blasi has coached at Central since 2018 after 21 seasons at Western Illinois University where he piloted his squad to four conference championships. A highly regarded swing instructor, Blasi also served as the director of golf operation at university’s Harry Mussatto Golf Course from 1998-2018.
Central has claimed 32 conference men’s golf championships and made 33 NCAA Division III tournament appearances. The Ryerson Golf Practice Facility opened in 2005. It features two practice greens and bunkers as well as 20 tee boxes with target greens.
