Construction on Highway G71 was scheduled to start Friday.
Construction is expected to run from June 2 through June 30. The road will be resurfaced and a pilot car and flagger will be used during construction. Traffic will be down to one-lane and delays are expected.
The length of the project is 4.77 miles according to the Marion County Road Department. Construction will start at the Junction of Highway 5 and continue to the city limits of Bussey, according to Brian Hatch, second assistant to the engineer. He added the overlay is due because the road is coming to the end of its useful life.
