The PCM baseball team used a five run fifth inning to take down Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont 8-2 on the road Tuesday night, while the Mustangs softball team’s contest at Newton was postponed to July 3rd due to weather.
The Rockets scored a run in each of the first two innings to grab the early 2-1 lead over the PCM baseball squad. Following two scoreless frames, the Mustangs’ offense came alive to score five times in the top of the fifth. PCM then added a run in each of the final two innings and improved to 5-6 overall on the season. Nick Farver continued to find success at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a triple and his third two-run homer in as many games. Easton Webb allowed just two earned runs in six innings of work on the bump to record the win, while Jacob Wendt closed out the Rockets in the seventh inning.
The Mustangs summer sports teams continue their busy weeks tonight, traveling to Jewell for single Heart of Iowa Conference games against South Hamilton at 7:30 p.m.
