David Gravel got revenge for the World of Outlaws Saturday night at the Knoxville Raceway while Gerit Williamson backed up his podium finish for the Outlaws race with his first career win at the Knoxville Raceway as heard on KNIA. However, the main story was a vicious crash by Carson Macedo in the World of Outlaws A-Main when it appeared that something failed on the car and he hit the turn four wall hard, then launched into a couple of end-over-end flips coming to rest right side up. The car then burst into flames. Macedo was dragged out of the car and assisted to a waiting ambulance when he was taken to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics for further treatment on burns suffered. Gravel, meanwhile, lead every lap and told KNIA/KRLS the track reminded him of a preliminary night in August.

Gravel: “I thought right there halfway through the A-Main, it was a pretty racy track, I could go anywhere and the middle was good like a Knoxville Nationals preliminary night.”

After posting a surprising podium with the Outlaws race, Gerit Williamson took his first career win at the Knoxville Raceway as he also led all laps to claim the win. Williams said it was a dream night for him and his team.

Williamson: “We haven’t been great in the 410 and we don’t have a ton of laps, and then to back it up with a win in the 360, it’s just a dream for our team and our partners right now.”

Next week the Knoxville Raceway will have all three classes running, plus the 410s will have the Border Battle with the winner getting $10,000 as Jackson Motorplex, and Husets Speedway join Knoxville in a three race weekend.
