indianola-8

The #1 Indianola softball team went 1-2 in a tournament at Cedar Rapids Xavier on Saturday. The Indians first fell to Marion 6-5, then defeated Xavier 9-4, before falling to Clear Creek-Amana 3-2.

Against Marion, the Indians had a 2-0 lead, then a 3-1 lead before giving up the tying runs in the third. The Indians scored another two runs to take a 5-3 lead, but Marion scored three more in the fifth to take a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.

The Indians offense showed up against the host Saints, but were still behind 4-2 going into the fifth. The Indians scored three runs to take a 5-4 lead, then added four more in the sixth for insurance to earn the win.

The bats went quiet in the finale, with Indianola trailing 1-0 until the fourth when they scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. The lead did not last however, as the Clippers scored two in the fifth, with that lead holding for the win.

Indianola is now 14-5 on the season, and will play Monday at Oskaloosa.
