A ribbon cutting was held for a new mural developed by the Spirit of Pella Thursday. A ceremony was held in front of the “Happy Days” mural on the wall of The Brew Coffeehouse with members of the non-profit organization.
City Councilmember Mark DeJong, Dutch Expert Milly Vande Kieft, and Muralist Hannah Heschke shared a few remarks about the painting. The mural design is inspired by Dutch folk art painting from the small farming village of Staphorst, in the province of Overijssel, The Netherlands.
Heschke, who was born and raised in Pella, currently uses her creative skills in the Worship Arts Department at Third Church and her commissioned works can be seen in Downtown Pella stores. Hear more from the artist behind the new mural on the Let’s Talk Pella podcast.
