A wave of recent new hires is adjusting well at the Pella Police Department. Chief Shane McSheehy says a combination of growth, retirements, and other departures left several openings to fill, especially over the past two years. He’s been excited with the progress those hires, many of whom are in their first law enforcement job after school. Officers Mya Irlmeier and Shawn Mason were among those recent additions who graduated from the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy this past spring, while Hunter Embray and Victor Garcia were both sworn into their new roles in April and are training to become full-time officers.
