Community Coordinator for Freedom for Youth in Knoxville, Angie Gentry, tells KNIA/KRLS News about the many summer programs that are offered. Gentry adds that the programs in Knoxville are free to all students kindergarten through twelfth grade, regardless of where they live.

She says, “All of our programming focuses on four main pillars. It’s faith, education, employment and leadership skills.”

Programs are divided into two groups, Kindergarten through 5th grade for Whiz Kids and 6th through 12th grade for Discovery Journey. Every Tuesday in the month of June is Drop-in-Days from 1-5 p.m. for students in all grades at the center at 107 South Third Street.

In the month of June for the Whiz-Kids there is a Program in the Park from 10 a.m. until noon. Included will be games and crafts, a bible story and lunch at the Auld Park, West Shelter. The event at the park will be every Wednesday in June.
