The Knoxville Public Library is partnering with the Knoxville High School to offer a Teen Book Club. The club will pick from a variety of fiction and non-fiction titles, participants will have a vote in what they read, and will meet throughout the year at the Knoxville Public Library to discuss their reading choices.

Discussion will be led by KCSD teachers Lindsey Carlson and Erin McBride.

June’s selection is Rising Troublemaker: A Fear-Fighter Manual for Teens by Luvvie Ajayi Jones. Teens can pick up their copy, which will be theirs to keep at the library’s front desk. The first discussion will be Tuesday, June 20 at 2:30 pm.

Caleb “The Negro Artist” Rainey will visit the Knoxville Library Thursday, June 22 at 6 pm for a poetry performance and workshop. Rainey was voted the Best Poet/Spoken Word Artist by the Little Village Magazine three years in a row, and was named one of ten “People to Watch” in 2023.

He was named one of ten “People to Watch” in 2023 by the Iowa City Press Citizen. He is in hot demand and the library feels fortunate that he’s able to visit the Knoxville library.

His workshop should be of particular interest to teens and adults. Learn more about him here: https://www.thenegroartist.com/.
