Van Meter left Pleasantville Monday with varsity wins in baseball and softball.
The Pleasantville varsity baseball team lost a heartbreaker to Van Meter Monday at home in league play. The final score was 6-3 in favor of Van Meter.
Pleasantville took the lead in the fifth. Van Meter tied the game at 3-3 in the sixth and won the game with a 3-run home run in the seventh.
Softball team is blanked
The Pleasantville varsity softball team lost to Van Meter 14-0 Monday night at home.
Pleasantville Coach Alee Phillips said the Trojans had some good hits but seemed to hit the ball right at them. They are a solid ball team that covers a lot of field. She added Van Meter has solid hitters and they were able to play small ball.
Sydney Septer had a solid base hit up the middle in the middle of the game but Pleasantville couldn’t score her.
Both Trojan teams will be at home tonight facing Sigourney in non-conference play.
