The class 3A #4 Knoxville Baseball Squad outlasted Newton 10-8 on Tuesday night. The Panthers had to come from behind after getting down 8-1 in the first two innings while committing six errors. The game turned in the 5th trailing 8-4 when Koby Higginbotham ripped a two RBI double to make it 8-6, Trey Wight singled to bring in Higginbotham to make it 8-7. In the bottom of the seventh, Trenton Kingery tied it with an RBI double, then Beau Leisure had the go ahead hit with a triple. Kingery also got the win going the final 2 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts. Coach Turner Devore told KNIA/KRLS Sports Higginbotham pitched 2 1/3 innings of great relief. Knoxville is now 20-1 on the season and equals last season’s win total. The Panthers are off until Thursday when they host Pella Christian.
