The Red Rock Rivalry renewed on the softball diamond, with a late-inning rally for Pella giving them the edge to knock off #15 in 4A Knoxville 4-3, as heard live on KNIA/KRLS.

Three batters into the game, the Panthers struck with the first of two Bacorn bombs, getting a 1-0 advantage. Both teams would strand several runners in between the two home runs for Knoxville’s catcher, as Brittany’s 2nd round-tripper made it a 3-0 lead in the top of the 5th.

Pella turned four hits and aggressive baserunning into three tallies to answer in the bottom of that frame, tying the contest heading into the 6th. Knoxville would get two runners in scoring position with one out, before Kyara Riggen would come in relief and get two critical outs, including against Bacorn. Riggen would lead the next inning off with a solo home run, and she secured the final three outs in the 7th for the win.

The Dutch improve to 6-12 overall and the Panthers fall to 10-5; Pella heads to #2 in 4A Norwalk today (game two can be heard on 92.1 KRLS), while Knoxville is back at home against #3 in 3A Davis County.
