The Class 4A #6 ranked Indianola softball team extended the winning streak over Pella Christian to 18 games Friday night, scoring at least one run in the final five innings to pick up a 7-1 win heard live on 92.1 KRLS.

After both teams went scoreless in the first two frames, the Indians got the scoring started in the top of the third as Kyra Robbins singled and her courtesy runner Alexa Guyer scored later in the inning on an error. The Eagles answered in the bottom of the inning when Jessa De Vries drew a walk and scored on when Emri Agre reached on a three-base error. Indianola’s steady offensive approach took over from there, scoring single runs in the fourth and sixth innings and two runs in each of the fifth and seventh innings to pull away for the win.

The story of the night was Indians senior hurler Izzy Sloan, who carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning. The no-hit bid came up one strike short as Claire Westerkamp doubled with two strikes and two outs in the final frame. Sloan needed just 91 pitches for the complete game, one-hit win in the circle, giving up one run on a hit and two walks.

The Indianola softball team improved to 18-6 overall and 10-1 in the conference, while Pella Christian fell to 7-17 overall and 2-11 in the league. The Eagles are back in action at the Cardinal Softball Tournament at 9 a.m. today, while the Indians have the weekend off before hosting Pella in a conference doubleheader on Monday.
