The Des Moines Skydivers Club in Knoxville will be putting on an Open House later this month.

Christy Brokens, one of the members, tells KNIA/KRLS News, “We’re going to host an Open House and the purpose of this is just for us to get to know the community and for the community to get to know us, because skydiving is such a community focused sport and event. So we just really wanted to bring a lot of fun activities into the hangar to draw people in. Just so they can come and hang out with us and enjoy the day.”

At the Open House there will be door prizes, including the chance to win a tandem jump. There are activities for the kids, including a photo booth and bounce houses. Local food trucks will be at the event, there will be free beer samples handed out and cupcakes.

The Open House will be Saturday, June 24 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. The event will be held rain or shine, according to Brokens. The group recently completed constructing a new hangar at the airport. People are invited out for the event and bring a lawn chair to watch members jump.
