The Knoxville Area Ministers Association (KMA) and EveryStep Hospice sponsored a fifteen minute Flag Day program this past week at the Marion County Courthouse gazebo. 

Brent Hanna with the Knoxville Area Ministers Association helped organize the event. The day included the pledge of allegiance and presentation and retirement of colors and also a historical perspective on Flag Day. A prayer was offered for our country.

Hanna tells KNIA/KRLS News, “One of the ideas of the Flag Day program began at a KMA meeting. We were talking about making a presence within the community and what we could do.” 

The American Legion and VFW presented the colors. Knoxville Mayor Brian Hatch was on hand and gave a brief statement. A few area ministers were present for the event as well. Hanna added that the 2023 event was the largest attended Flag Day event in Knoxville.
