For once, the Knoxville Raceway beat the weather and completed a sprint car show as the final checkered flag fell about 15:00 before a downpour ensued as heard live on KNIA on Saturday night. The most exciting race of the night was the 360s, where Ryan Giles got the early jump and quickly checked out to a straightaway lead, but lapped traffic closed the gap between him and Gerrit Williamson. Lurking behind them was Chase Randall, who got better as the race went on and out dueled Williamson to the line to get his first career win at the Knoxville Raceway. Randall told KNIA/KRLS Sports he was tired of being the bridesmaid.

Randall: “I’ve run second here so many times, in the 360s and 410s. I’ve tried to get better, watched videos, and just found out where I can get better. Knoxville really put on a great race.”

In the 410s, Davey Heskin won for the first time in over ten years at the raceway as he held off Aaron Reutzel. Heskin, who did not win a race during his championship season in 2021 got the lead about halfway through the race and held on and and for his efforts won $10,000 on night two of the three track Border Battle. In the Pro Sprints, A.J. Johnson survived the late race yellow to record his first career victory. The Knoxville Raceway will take next week off to allow drivers who want to compete at the High Bank Nationals at Husets Speedway. The next racing at Knoxville will be the Midseason Championships on July first.
