A groundbreaking ceremony will take place Monday for the connector between Pella Middle School and Jefferson Intermediate in Pella. The Pella School Board will hold the first of their two summer meetings following the event scheduled at 4 p.m. Superintendent Greg Ebeling says the new space will include several classrooms and other needs for space at what he calls a “pinch point” for enrollment growth in the district. Construction will begin this summer on the $16.5 million connector, with the goal for substantial completion by December of 2024.
The Pella School Board will hold their meeting after. On the agenda is an amendment to a contract with DCI Group for management of the football stadium project, district insurance renewal with EMC Insurance, nursing services contract with UnityPoint, and several changes to the supplemental salary schedule and handbooks at all buildings, as well as the district’s philosophy for activities. Several policy changes will be considered alongside the handbook updates.
A work session will also be held to discuss human resource and employee information with Ahlers Law Firm. The Pella School Board meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Pella Middle School Library following the groundbreaking ceremony, and can be viewed online here.
