Norwalk HIRTA (Heart of Iowa Regional Transport Agency) driver Brett King was named as the 2023 HIRTA Driver of the Year at the Public Transit Association Annual Meeting and Training Conference last week.
Brett’s contributions in Norwalk included working with the Norwalk Easter Public Library to help film a How2Ride video with Scribbles the Mascot, helping set up a mobile library, and delivering books to those in need, and training sessions and working with Aspiring Professional Experience students to bring real-world experience to high school students among others.
To be considered for driver of the year, drivers must work at least 780 hours, have no fault accidents or moving violations, work at least 95% of all scheduled work, and have no documented incidents or complaints.
