Melcher-Dallas will hold Coal Miner’s Day this weekend, with the two-day event honoring the history of the city and providing activities over the course of the weekend.
The event begins on Friday, and there will be music in the park starting at 5 p.m. along with inflatables and a bags tournament will follow at 6:30 p.m. Saturday’s festivities begin with the Methodist Church’s free will offering breakfast in the park at 8 a.m. A 5K run follows the breakfast at 9 a.m., with registration starting at 8:30. The National Anthem will be played in the park at 10:30, before the parade and car show start at 11:00 a.m. Other events on Saturday include bingo, a vendor show, inflatables, tractor pulls, a quilting presentation, a kids water fight, a raffle, and a meal at the fire department at 11:30 a.m. The Coal Miner’s Museum will also be open from noon until 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Coal Miner’s Day concludes with a golf tournament at 9 a.m. on Sunday.Proceeds benefit the Melcher-Dallas Fire Department.
