The Des Moines Skydivers Club in Knoxville will be hosting an open house on Saturday.
There will be door prizes, including the chance to win a tandem jump. There are also activities for kids, including a photo booth and bounce houses. Local food trucks will be at the event and there will be cupcakes and free beer samples handed out. Member Christy Brokens says the goal of the open house is to build relationships between the club and the community.
“The purpose of this is just for us to get to know the community and for the community to get to know us, because skydiving is such a community focused sport and event. So, we just really wanted to bring a lot of fun activities into the hangar to draw people in. Just so they can come and hang out with us and enjoy the day.”
The Des Moines Skydivers Club Open House is this Saturday from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and the event will be held rain or shine, according to Brokens. The group recently completed construction on a new hangar at the airport.
