The Knoxville Parks and Recreation Department opened their newest park on Thursday.

The new East Park opened on the site of the old East Elementary School at 507 South Sixth Street in Knoxville. Knoxville Recreation Center Wellness Coordinator Angie Jones says East Park is a nice family-oriented park that offers various activities.

“So you’re gonna see swing sets, a basketball court, there’s benches, and there’s trash cans. It’s just a really nice place for families to go if you want something smaller and more intimate.”

Jones added that the process of building the park didn’t take long and that it is a wonderful addition to the city.
