After shutting down to reorganize, Neighbor Helping Neighbor in Knoxville reopened its doors.

The organization is located at 308 East Robinson Street and helps those in need with paying their utility bills.  Long time volunteer with Neighbor Helping Neighbor Bonnie Crook says the organization is available to help, and that it’s become an important part of the community.

“It’s very important that people understand it’s here for use because it is an emergency fund that we help with rent, utilities, water, etc., but also, we have a few vouchers that we can give for food, non-food items, and emergency gasoline for medical trips, that sort of thing. So, it is has become, as the economy has developed into what it is, it has become a very important part of our local life.”

Neighbor Helping Neighbor is open from 1-3 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays. Hear more about the organization from Crook and Knoxville Ministerial Association representative Brent Hanna on today’s Let’s Talk Knoxville.
