The Pella Christian softball team edged PCM for a 3-2 non-conference decision in Monroe Thursday night.
The Eagles plated two unearned runs in the top of the first inning to get the scoring started, but the Mustangs score two runs of their own in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2-2. After a scoreless fourth inning, Pella Christian took the lead for good with a run in the top of the fifth and improved to 10-20 overall, while PCM fell to 11-8 on the summer. In the complete game win, Emma Eekhoff punched out five to go over 200 strikeouts in her career. The sophomore allowed just two unearned runs on three hits and a walk in the victory. Rylee Parsons suffered the loss for the Mustangs, pitching all seven innings and giving up three unearned runs on five hits and a walk. Emri Agre led the Pella Christian offense with two hits at the plate, while Brynn Roozeboom recorded the team’s lone RBI. PCM’s offense was led by Tori Lindsay and Addison Steenhoek, with each recording a third-inning RBI.
The Pella Christian softball team rejoins the baseball team in Little Hawkeye Conference play tonight with 5:30 p.m. home doubleheaders against Newton, and the second game of the baseball twinbill can be heard live on the KRLS3 stream at KNIAKRLS.com. The PCM softball team is back in non-conference play tonight, hosting Cardinal at 7 p.m., while the Mustangs baseball team hosts Sigourney at 7:30 p.m.
