The Indianola City Council discussed Indianola Bike Nights in their work session on Monday, reviewing the city ordinances around the event and streamlining the process. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News Bike Night had its own ordinances in city code, and as times have evolved the city is looking to make events on the square and surrounding area the same process for everyone.

“I wasn’t here for Bike Night in the past, and I’m excited to see those types of events return. But at the same time we want to make sure we are following a very consistent process for all of our events. That we evaluate them equally, fairly, and impartially, with our business owners participating through the Downtown Commission, and bring those through a standard process. We are looking at the ordinance, making sure we can take future versions of Bike Night or any event through the proper process, and repeal any old ordinances that are out of date.”

Bike Nights were common on the downtown square through 2019, and were paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
