Zachary Kalvig resigned from his position as Melcher-Dallas Police Chief due to personal reasons at the city council meeting on Tuesday, June 20th. Kalvig was unanimously voted into the position earlier this year at the city council meeting on Tuesday, January 10th. Prior to the hiring of Kalvig, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office had provided law enforcement services for the community at a cost of $6,000 per month. Melcher-Dallas Mayor Terry Fisher stated that no official decision has been made to fill the vacancy as of yet.
