The PCM softball team walked off Cardinal Friday night for a 3-2 win, while the Mustangs baseball also needed a walk-off to down Sigourney 8-7.

In Monroe, the PCM softball team jumped in front of the Comets 2-0 in the second inning and maintained that lead through five frames. A few miscues aided Cardinal in tying the game heading into the bottom of the seventh. Ella Schendel got the Mustangs rally started with a single, and pinch runner Jorja Teeter advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a Lillian Humpal single moved Teeter to third, Addison Steenhoek ended the game by scoring Teeter on a squeeze bunt. In the complete game win, Rylee Parsons reached 100 strikeouts on the season with three against the Comets. Joslin Briles, Schendel, and Steenhoek batted in the three runs, pushing PCM to 12-8 overall on the summer.

The Mustangs baseball team was tied with Sigourney at 2-2 after the opening three frames but grabbed a 4-2 lead after the fourth inning and held that lead until the final frame. Sigourney plated five runs in the top of the seventh to go up 7-4, but Will Owens came through in a big spot for the Mustangs in the bottom of the inning with a walk-off grand slam. Nick Farver threw 5.2 innings and struck out 12, but recorded a no decision, while Easton Webb secured the win in relief. Jack Jungling contributed a solo home run in the victory, while Gavin Fenton and Kaleb Devries recorded the other two RBIs in the game. PCM baseball now holds an overall record this season of 12-11.

The Mustangs summer sports teams have the weekend off, before traveling to Roland-Story for single Heart of Iowa Conference games on Monday.
