Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued at 3 p.m. on 6/24 in Marion County

Several reports of hail were confirmed by the National Weather Service for multiple rounds of thunderstorms Saturday. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. and again from 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. for three total severe thunderstorm warnings, with updates coming in from Weatherology meteorologists. The National Weather Service received reports of quarter-sized hail in Indianola and pea-sized hail in Pella, Pleasantville, and at Lake Red Rock. Heavy rain impacted many area communities as well:

Pella (KNIA/KRLS) – .98″
Knoxville (KNIA/KRLS) – .77″
Indianola – 1.25″
Pleasantville (near 92/5 interchange) – 2.9″
Pleasantville (Bailee the dog) – 2.5″
Pella (Fountain Hills) – 1.63″
Lake Red Rock (north side, near G-28) – 1.8″

The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team is on the air with any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning impacting Marion and Warren Counties, with backup generators ensuring the coverage stays on if the power goes out.
