Knoxville Boys Golfer Evan Smith has earned the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association Player of the Year Award along with two other players in class 3A. Smith helped lead Knoxville to a runner-up finish at the class 3A State Meet in May and has earned the player of the year award along with Davis Korver of MOC Floyd Valley and individual class 3A champion Roman Roth of Washington. Smith was 5th this season in average score per nine holds at 36.2, was 4th in 3A at 18 holes with an average of 71.8. He also had the 2nd lowest 18 hole score of the season in class 3A with a 67 carded at the district on May 15th in Pella. Smith and the Panthers will return almost everyone from a team that finished runner-up at the class 3A State Meet in May.
