The summer sports postseason is on the horizon, but before the Dutch and Eagles turn their attention to tournament play, the Little Hawkeye Conference season rolls on Monday as they clash on Eagle Lane.

The previous matchups between Pella and Pella Christian seemed to serve as turning points in the seasons for the boys of summer from both schools; the Dutch baseball team’s comeback win over the Eagles in game two sent the two squads in opposite directions. Pella Christian lost seven in a row after the loss to Pella on June 9th; they’ve since won three of their last four games, while Pella has gone 9-3 in that time. Monday’s contest will serve as the rubber match, with the winner earning the season series.

In the previous softball twin bill, the Eagles snapped a 10-game losing streak and stunned the Dutch for a pair of wins behind big offense, while the Dutch have put together some of their best performances of the season after the disappointment on June 9th, having defeated then-ranked Knoxville and #6 in 4A Indianola since. Pella is attempting to make a push to get back into 4th place in the conference, while Pella Christian has its eyes set on starting the 2A playoffs Friday.

Coverage of the summer Tulip City Showdown: Round Two begins at 7 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS for softball, while the baseball game can be heard on the KRLS3 stream and the KNIA/KRLS mobile app at 7:15 Monday evening. Youth athletes get free admission if wearing their little league baseball or softball uniforms.
