As part of the first of two summer meetings, the Pella School Board approved changes to the school’s activities policy.
The updates revised the philosophy of participation in district sports and fine arts, calling them “The Other Half of Education.”
Superintendent Greg Ebeling says most of the changes clarify the purpose of each level of activities, how to handle conflicts between school functions and participation in club or other outside organizations in the same season, and further define the process for conflict resolution. The new handbook policy will also reinforce that it is not appropriate for complaints to center around playing or performance time, team strategy, or statistics.
