An offensive surge in the final two innings doomed the PCM baseball team in an 11-4 loss at home against Atlantic Tuesday night.
After a scoreless first inning, the Mustangs and Trojans each scored a run in the second inning and carried the 1-1 tie into the fifth inning. PCM plated three runs in the bottom of the fifth to claim a 4-1 lead, but a six-run sixth inning and a four-run seventh for Atlantic dropped the Mustangs to 12-13 overall on the season. Jacob Wendt recorded a no-decision on the mound with ten strikeouts in five innings, giving up four runs on six hits, two walks, and two hit batters. Carson Hansen took the loss in an inning of relief, while Zeb Padgett finished the game on the bump for PCM. Nick Farver went 2-for-3 with the Mustangs’ lone RBI, while Wendt, Jack Jungling, and Will Owens posted the team’s other three hits on the night.
