Extra law enforcement is set to patrol during Independence Day celebrations starting this weekend. Pella Police Captain Paul Haase says the department is joining other agencies locally and across the state as part of the sTEP enforcement wave from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau. Haase says they remind everyone to pay extra attention while driving, especially as many local communities celebrate Independence Day over the next several days. He reminds Pella residents that several roads near downtown will be closed Saturday afternoon and evening as festivities begin for the Tulip City.
