Habitat for Humanity of Marion County is close to completion on construction of a new home at 502 West Rock Island Street for a Knoxville family.
The Knoxville High School Construction Trades Class worked four days a week on the new home, starting back in October of 2022. The sod for the handicap accessible home is scheduled to be laid Saturday, and volunteers are welcome to help with the process. The Habitat for Humanity home has been built for new homeowners Nikki and Kenndal Cunningham. Project Manager Jay Weldon says that the project is nearing completion.
“We are in our last week of construction. Saturday we’ll be laying sod. We’re doing the final touches inside, such as the casing and baseboard and our general cleanup. So we are nearing the end of this project.”
A dedication for the completed project is set for July 11th at 10 a.m., and the family will be able to move in shortly after that date. For more information, visit the Habitat for Humanity website here.
