A Knoxville man faces a felony burglary charge after an arrest was made on Tuesday.
According to court documents, just after 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 22nd, Knoxville Police responded to a call at 214 N. 2nd Street in Knoxville. The resident informed the officer that she returned home to find the male suspect sleeping inside the home. The resident believed the man had forced entry into the house. The suspect had removed miscellaneous cords and cables from the home and consumed a can of soda from the refrigerator but left behind a large set of keys.
Knoxville Police Chief Aaron Fuller asked Phillips 66 to be on the lookout for a person matching the description given by the homeowner and received a tip shortly before 7 p.m. on the 22nd. Video obtained from the Phillips 66 helped officers identify 39-year-old Casey Frye as the suspect. Fuller spoke with two witnesses that identified the keys left at the scene as belonging to Frye.
On Tuesday, Fuller spoke with Frye. The suspect claimed to know the resident but provided the wrong name for the homeowner. He then admitted to removing a bag with the cords and cables from the home. Shortly before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Frye was placed under arrest, and he admitted that it was his keychain left at the crime scene.
Frye has been charged with Second Degree Burglary, a Class C felony, and Interference with an Official Act, a Simple Misdemeanor.
