pleasantville-3

The Class 2A #10 ranked Pleasantville baseball team pulled out a big 13-12 comeback road win over Chariton Wednesday night, while the Trojans softball game against Clarke was canceled.

The Pleasantville baseball team grabbed a 1-0 advantage after the first inning in Chariton, only for the Chargers to answer with six runs in the second inning. The Trojans plated two runs in the top of the third to cut the lead to 6-3, but six more runs between the fourth and fifth innings for Chariton put Pleasantville in a seven-run hole. Despite the deficit, the Trojans didn’t blink, scoring eight runs in the sixth inning to pull back within one. In the final frame, Pleasantville plated two more runs to claim a 13-12 lead and held on for the final three outs to pick up the big come-from-behind win.

Dylan Aldrich powered the Trojans offense in the comeback win, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Tyler Gibson and Parker Sheets each recorded two RBIs in the win, pushing Pleasantville to 26-6 overall on the season. JJ Phillips recorded his first two varsity innings and the win on the mound, striking out five of the eight batters he faced.

The Pleasantville summer sports teams will wrap up regular season and West Central Conference play tonight, traveling to Truro for single games against Interstate 35 at 7 p.m.
