The Knoxville Parks and Recreation Center encourages residents to participate in their program “Walk a Million Steps.”
The program began on Memorial Day and goes through Labor Day, and the goal is for participants to get a million steps in between the two holidays. This is the third year that the recreation center is hosting the event, and while the start date has passed, Wellness Coordinator Angie Jones says it’s not too late to join the program.
“Many people walk 15,000 steps a day, 18,000 steps a day, so it’s very easy for those steps to add up. Even if you start late and we are still letting people register if they want. If they complete the million steps, they get a t-shirt that actually designates you’ve walked a million steps with the rec center.”
