The Norwalk Warriors took full advantage of Dutch miscues on their way to a 9-2 conference softball title clinching win heard live on 92.1 KRLS Thursday evening.
A two-out error by Pella in the top of the first gave the road team an extra at-bat, and catcher Lauren Black deposited a long home run to left field to give the #5 in 4A team a 2-0 lead they wouldn’t lose. From there, senior Zadie Wadle dominated the Dutch in the circle, striking out eight in six innings as the offense added additional runs in the 3rd, 4th, 6th, and 7th innings in a twelve-hit performance.
Pella ended an otherwise successful week with the tough loss, led by a 2-for-4 performance with a home run by Ava Curry and a 2-for-3 game by Katie Pollock.
Norwalk finishes the conference season with 18 wins and at least a share of the league title — there are no head-to-head tiebreakers awarded in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and if DCG were to win on July 3rd, the two would share the 2023 crown. Pella ended the conference year in 7th at 6-14. The Warriors are at the DCG tournament today; Pella is off until they head to Perry on Monday.
