The PCM softball team extended their winning streak to five games on Thursday night, picking up a 12-2 victory on the road at BCLUW.
Each team got on the scoreboard with a run in the first inning, but after a scoreless second frame, the Mustangs took complete control of the contest. PCM exploded for six runs in the top of the third inning and extended their lead to 9-2 with a pair of fourth inning runs. The Mustangs made it 11 unanswered runs with a score in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh. The Comets added a second run in the seventh inning, but PCM finished off their fifth straight win to improve to 16-8 on the summer.
The Mustangs needed just one extra base hit on the night to score their 12 runs, recording 11 singles, four walks, and reaching on four errors in the victory. Tori Lindsay, Riley Johannes, and RaeAnn Duinink each had two singles, while Lillian Humpal and Johannes batted in two runs apiece for the Mustangs. Addison Steenhoek posted the lone extra base knock with a double, and Rylee Parsons struck out 10 batters across seven innings in the circle to pick up the win.
The PCM softball team will try to push their winning streak to six games tonight, hosting Des Moines Christian in a non-conference contest at 7:30 p.m.
