A panel of Warren County elected officials will meet today to review the approximately 3,400 signature petition to force a special election for Warren County Auditor. The petition was submitted last week by the Warren County Democratic Party, and challenged by the Warren County Republican Party citing illegible signatures, signees not residing in Warren County, and incorrect dates, among others. The petition requires 2,384 valid signatures to force the election.

According to Iowa Code 44.7, the three-member panel includes Warren County Attorney Doug Eichholz, Warren County Treasurer Julie Daugherty, and Warren County Auditor David Whipple who will review the signatures and declare if the petition will move forward or be returned to the petitioner.

The meeting will be in the boardroom of the Warren County Administration Building at 1pm.
