The Indianola softball team went 2-1 at the Dallas Center-Grimes tournament on Friday, while the Indianola baseball team fell to Newton 5-2.

The softball team fell to Johnston to begin the day 9-0, but quickly recovered to dominate Des Moines Roosevelt 12-0. The Indians scored four runs in each of the 2nd, 4th, and 5th innings to end the game early. In the nightcap and a crucial matchup for postseason rankings, the Indians defeated ADM 10-9. Indianola was up 2-1 after the first inning, but gave up an eight run inning to the Tigers to trail 9-2, when the comeback started. The Indians scored three runs in the third, another four in the fifth to tie the score, then the winning run in the sixth to earn the victory. The Indians are now 25-11 on the season, and play Ottumwa on Monday.

The Indians baseball team could not find offense against the Cardinals, giving up two runs in the first, another in the second, and another in the fourth to trail 4-0 before they scored their first runs in the fifth inning to trail 4-2. The Cardinals scored insurance in the sixth, and the Indians couldn’t push across another run. They are now 24-9 on the season, and they travel to Fort Dodge on Monday for a tournament.
