Knoxville, Pleasantville, and Milo will hold activities for Independence Day on Tuesday, while Bussey will hold their events over two days, beginning Monday.

The Fourth of July celebration in Knoxville begins at the Police Station with the flag raising ceremony at 7:45 a.m., followed by the fifth annual KPD Freedom 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. Police Chief Aaron Fuller says the 5K is something the department looks forward to hosting for the community each year.

“It’s a great event. It’s something that we look forward to all year. It’s the police department’s way to hold an event on the 4th of July in connection with all the Thrive events that go on throughout the community on that day.”

The Knoxville Fire Department hosts their freedom breakfast from 8-10 a.m., while the First United Methodist Church is hosting Yoga on the lawn. Knoxville’s Independence Day events conclude with the fireworks show at the Knoxville Municipal Airport beginning at dusk. 

Kicking off the festivities at Bussey City Park on Monday, July 3rd is the Fire Department Supper at 4:40 p.m. Other events on Monday are bingo, carnival rides and Curtis Marshall performing on stage, with all three starting at 5 p.m. The Bussey Methodist Church Breakfast from 7-9 a.m. starts Tuesday’s events, with the Bussey Library Book Sale and Silent Action following from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The Fourth of July Parade starts at 10 a.m., and Bussey’s 2023 Prince and Princess will be crowned at 6 p.m. The fireworks show concludes the two-day event at 10 p.m. on Tuesday. Other events on July 4th, include, three performances on the stage at Bussey City Park, food vendors, carnival rides, and craft vendors.

The City of Pleasantville will celebrate the 4th of July with the Joe Inman Band from 7 to 9 p.m. at Cora Shadle Memorial Park, leading up to fireworks at dusk.

The City of Milo has also announced their 4th of July activities, which will start at 7 a.m. and continue through fireworks at dusk, and includes a parade throughout the community.
