The Norwalk softball team held an early lead against the top-ranked squad in Class 5A Monday night, but committed five errors and suffered a 5-1 home loss to Ankeny Centennial. The Jaguars tallied 12 hits – all singles – and improved to 31-5 on the season. Sydney Morris led the victors, going 3-for-3 with two RBI.

The Class 4A fifth-ranked Warriors were held to six singles and fell to 27-9 overall. Norwalk juniors Grace Dehmer and Lauren Black both went 2-for-3 and Addi Downe had a single and one RBI, driving in Maddie Gullion with the team’s only run in the second inning.

Zadie Wadle pitched four innings and Olivia Dougherty worked the final three frames for Norwalk. Both pitchers allowed six hits, walked one and struck out three.

The Warriors return to the diamond on Wednesday, closing out the regular season with a 5:00 p.m. varsity doubleheader at 5A 2nd-ranked Waukee Northwest.
