A panel of three Warren County officers approved a petition to force a special election for the post of Warren County Auditor last week, following the process set forth by Iowa Code when a petition is challenged. Warren County Attorney Doug Eichholz said during the meeting, this was a good showing of the democratic process in the county.
“The process has worked, everybody should be proud of the process. The Board of Supervisors did nothing wrong when they selected Mr. Whipple as the Interim County Auditor, the process allows them to do that. The process also allows the people, within 14 days of his appointment, to say we don’t agree, we want to have an election. And that’s what happened, that’s the beauty of our system.”
The Warren County Supervisors will meet on July 11th to consider a date for the election.
