While a few days have had heat index values near 100 degrees this summer, a generally cooler and wetter than normal trend is expected to continue. State Climatologist Justin Glisan says that’s good news for the drought-stricken state, with many regions already seeing much-needed rainfall with storms over the past week. According to the National Weather Service, 2-3 inches of rainfall has fallen in most locations in Marion and Warren Counties since June 28th, with higher amounts observed in the southern two tiers of counties in the state. An unseasonably cooler stretch begins today, with daytime highs in the mid-to-upper 70s expected through the weekend. Hear more from the state climatologist on the Let’s Talk Pella podcast.
