At the Knoxville Rotary Club’s annual meeting, one individual and one organization were recognized with awards.

John Mertz received the Rotary’s highest recognition as the 2022-2023 George H. Andrew Service Above Self recipient. Mertz was recognized for his many years of work on the board. Currently, he is the Public Image – Public Relations Chair, but has also served with Special Olympics and the Rotary’s community service including distributing dictionaries, flags, MOW, dinners, and literacy project. 

The Rotary also awarded the Weiler Foundation with the 1st Annual Community Paul Harris Fellow Recognition. Pat and Sharon Weiler were present at the annual meeting to accept the award. The Weiler Foundation was recognized for building a business in Knoxville with over 400 employees, multiple donations throughout the Knoxville community, providing funds for the Rotary’s Literacy Project for the fourth straight year, and helping with the growth of the Knoxville community.
